Standardization of ejector pins saves time and money in mold maintenance. Here is a comparison of four commonly used standards.
JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard)
- Core pin diameters: 1.0-20.0mm
- Head style: 90 degree countersunk or flat
- Tolerance: m6 (shank)
- Common in: Japanese and Asian mold shops
DIN/ISO 6751 (European Standard)
- Core pin diameters: 1.0-25.0mm
- Head style: Flat with 15 degree chamfer
- Tolerance: f7 or m6
- Common in: European mold builders
HASCO (German Standard)
- Core pin diameters: 1.0-32.0mm
- Lengths: 100-630mm
- Material: HSS, nitrided 1.2343, or through-hardened
- Common in: European and growing Asian markets
DME (North American Standard)
- Core pin diameters: 1/32 to 1 inch (imperial)
- Material: H-13, M-2 HSS
- Common in: US and Canada
- Note: Imperial sizes are not directly interchangeable with metric
Practical tip: If you export molds, specify pin standards upfront. A mold built to HASCO standards is serviceable in Europe immediately. A DME mold requires DME-stocked spares.
